Chemical Peels

Chemical Peeling involves applying a chemical solution (Natural or synthetic) to the skin to remove its outer layers. How much skin is removed and how deep the peel penetrates, depends upon the type of peel used, its strength and how long it is left on. Your esthetician will help you determine which is best for you and your skin type. What really matters is the peels PH level. Estheticians work with peels that are 3.0 or higher.

A superficial or light peel are the gentlest type of peels and are the true "lunchtime"procedures. They remove the top layer of skin and give your skin an instantly brighter look while also creating a smoother and more even texture. They help to minimize fine lines and wrinkles, mild acne scarring, sun damage, dry or flaky skin, and age spots.

Superficial peels are usually made from Alpha-Hydroxy Acids or Beta-Hydroxy Acids made from pumpkins, pineapples, and cranberries. Examples include glycolic acid, salicylic acid and lactic acid. These can be layered to achieve the desired level of PH and depth of peel.

Not every skin type is suited to chemical peels and depending on which medications you take and which allergies you have, your skin may not be ready for a peel. Your esthetician is trained and can help you make this decision. It is also recommended to do a patch test. before trying a peel for the first time.

Fall and Winter months are ideal times for chemical peels as we have reduced sunlight during these seasons. It is always advised to wear SPF protection especially after this type of exfoliation. As well as to avoid working out (creates sweat), wear make-up or wash your face the evening after receiving a chemical peel. These activities will decrease the desired outcome of the chemical peel.

All of our peels include a double cleansing of the skin, toner, peel, serum, moisturizer, and SPF.
Treatment time varies from 10min.-20min.

A series of once a week for 6-10 weeks is recommended for best results.
